Wein, Joe. "Bob Marley and the Wailers." Http://JoeWein.de/bmw.html. 11 Dec. 2008.
This was a little excerpt about bob Marley by author Joe wein. my goal for my project is to prove how Marley's music affected its listeners and this site is perfect evidence for that. Wein talks about the first two bob Marley albums he bought and how they affected him. he says that Marley's music had a magical affect on him and affected him in a way no other music did.

http://www.elyrics.net/read/b/bob-marley-lyrics/no-woman-no-cry-lyrics.html
Fr my forth annotation i decided to do something different. since my national history day project is on bob Marley and being that he legacy shines through his music; i decided to annotate his lyrics. bob Marley believed he could create world peace through his music.his lyrics were not just lyrics, he talks about what he saw in the world and how he could change it.
in his song "no woman no cry" being one of his biggest hits talks about observations in his home trenchtown which kind of gave me a sense of the setting of where he lived.

Peake, Mike. "Biography." "The ultimate Bob Marley Fan Site" 20 Mar. 1998. 29 Nov. 2008 .
This website gave me much more detail on bob Marley. the part that helped me on my project the most was "After the amazing honour and experience Bob Marley continue to record, "Uprising" was released in 1980". this was my favorite part because it showed that his legacy still lives on today. his music is just songs on a record. his lyrics has meaning, and effected a lot of peoples lives.

Gilfoyle, Millie. They Died Too Young. Malaysia: Chelsea House, 2000. 5-44.
This book talked a lot about the different sections in Bob Marley's life. The book was sort of like a timeline, it showed different important time periods in Bob Marley's life. The book contained five different sections; "Country Boy, Trench Town, Tasting Success, King of Reggae, and, Hope Road". The section that stood out to me the most was Hope Road. This section stood out to me the most because on December 5Th bob was assured to do an outside concert. He was told it was not a political concert but one just to help keep the peace, so he agreed. A couple of days before the concert bob and his sister Rita were both shot and in critical condition. When the day of the concert came bob still performed at the concert. this amazed me because of all the the danger he was exposed to and he still wanted to keep the peace...

service learning
what interest me for service learning is working with kids. i think that kids younger kids look up to us and the impression we make o them reflects on the type of person they become when they get older. so i think that helping them whether its with their homework or just talking to them about their future high school experience. so if if i had to suggest a service learning project that i would want to do this would be it. some other suggestions for service learning would be maybe cleaning a school or street, painting a mural or even tutoring little kids.................. to be continued.

(NHD)
i thought nhd was very hard especially with having to hear miss thompsons mouth all the time. she annoys the heck out of me and gives me nightmares.anyway things i learned from this experience were to next time pick a better partner, choose an interesting and well known topic so that u can find more research on it, and last but not least to TAKE IT SERIOUSLY AND WORK HARD FROM THE BEGGINING. well what i did enjoy was learning more about my topic and other peoples topic. i learned a lot about technology>> and i also learned a lot about myself, i didn't know that i was capable of working so hard but i did it and even though i did not make it to city's I'm still glad i did it cause i learned a lot. some suggestions for next year would be to start the workshops earlier and organize them more. in conclusion although nhd was stressful; i learned a lot that will most likely benefit me next year.

child abuse
should parents beat their children for discipline?
yes and no. i think that beating a child can be be both a good advantage and a bad advantage.
first of all i would say yes parents should be able to beat their children because sometimes screaming doesn't work and the kids get way out of hand and then there's which is the only thing left to do after trying everything else. i think hitting a child is fine as long as the line isn't crossed.
second, i would say that parent hitting their child is bad because some parents get out of hand and beating or hitting turns into abuse.some parent have very low patience with kids and get carried away and abuse their children. when i was younger my mom hit me and 99 percent of the time it worked, but at other times it just pushed me away to disobey her even more.
in conclusion hitting a child can be at a good and a bad advantage.

Huck Finn essay
Should huck Finn be taught in chs?
No, I do not think Finn should be taught in school because of its language and its use of racism.
My first reason why I think huck Finn should not be taught in chs is because of its language. The author has and interesting style of writing. I think his purpose was to brink back the language from the time in the book. Although his writing is interesting and creative; it still very hard to understand. Another reason why the language is a bad advantage to the story is because so much time is spent on trying to read and understand the language rather than enjoying the book.
My second reason why huck Finn should not be taught in chs is because of the racism used in the book. Although the author might have just been trying to bring the vibe of racism used back in the time the story took place, it still might and is very offensive to some people. I think the author could have easily wrote a note to his writers in the front of the book telling how his purpose of the racism in his novel was not meant to offend anyone but only to create a wonderful book.
In conclusion I think the story huck Finn should not be taught in chs because of the hard to understand language and the use of racism.

Sterling A. Brown
sterling a. brown was born in Washington d.c, in 1901. he was educated at Dunbar high school and received a bachelors degree from Williams college. Brown spent most of his life as an English professor at Howard university, where he taught a wide range of Shakespeare. brown grew up in the the black middle class of Washington, DC, but his interest in the lives of common folk took him from the lecture hall to the barrel house and the barber shop. while being influenced by such poetic masters such as Robert frost and Edgar lee masters.
In 1918 brown earned a scholarship to Williams college, where an essay in 1922, "the comic spirit in Shakespeare and Moliere", and election to phi beta kappa won him a Clark fellowship to Harvard for graduate work. In 1932 his first book, southern road was published. Jazz, the blues, spirituals, and work songs influenced brown's poetry. brown was and is known for his unsentimental and frank portraits of African-American people and their lives and experiences.
If i was telling someone about sterling a. brown and they knew nothing about him the one thing that i would most want them to know would be how he captured the dialect of rural black folk, and event though this was an unpopular style of writing his wonderful talent and ability to reveal humanity won over everything. the most interesting thing about sterling a. brown was that he was inspired by music and by that wrote beautiful poems.
In conclusion i think sterling a. brown was a wonderful writer and would love to read more of his inspiring work.
